Saving the world, one startup at a time

With quite a bit of authoritarian non-sense going on these days a lot of people ask what you can I do? I have been thinking about this question for some time and I think I have somewhat of an answer. Combining the economics of successful startups with a crowd powered workforce, it's possible to start a successful startup.

If you don't believe me, there are many examples that come to mind. But in the end, for institutional investors, the only proof necessary is that there are a lot of users contributing content to the application and so there is a potential for revenue in that space. There are many stories of tech startups that sold for anywhere from a million dollars to up to 5 billion dollars. If facebook sells it will more likely be for up to 15 billion dollars.

So in the end, there is a lot of potential on the internet to make money. Given this fact and the fact that word of mouth is the most powerful marketing tool, it makes sense that the people of the world cooperate to generate economic value and then use the proceeds from the sale of the startup to fund an overhaul of the government, especially the American government. There are many different ways to contribute from contributing to existing organizations such as the ACLU or starting your own organizations to fight for certain rights to defending people who are being harassed by the record companies.

Further the money could be used to deploy various types of networks from wireless to wired at costs powered by volunteers much like Open Source software is powered by volunteers. RMS started the first fight, now it is up to us to start the second fight for freedom on the internet, and we can do it with startups if we so choose.
