So Google launched Google Health today, and basically it's about drugs, lots and lots of drugs. Google is after the 20 billion dollar drug industry's advertisement money. Basically Google wants to know what ailments you have or might think you have, and then wants to sell ad companies ad space to target you. Just like good old television you let Google tell you about problems like Restless leg syndrome, the cure for which causes gambling problems and sexual urges.
Human beings were made to move, we are descendants of hunter gatherer whose minds have started interfacing with machines leaving our bodies behind. Exercise is important and though many have heard it before, for the vast majority that advice goes unheeded. I don't think this should be the case at all and I wanted to share a few of my experience in beginning exercise.
A&W Rootbeer Today I was in downtown and decided to grab a bite to eat before a meeting. So I head up to Steven's Ave. and start walking down trying to find a place to eat. I see two guys standing outside looking into an A&W, and at first glance I am not interested and pass by. I was thinking I could do better. But I decide to cut down the time and go to A&W. I walk inside and look through the menu. Bright lights of supposedly delicious looking food. Then I start thinking about what's in that food, all those fats, preservatives and what not. I am sort of disgusted, but not enough to not order. So I order a chicken sandwich combo. She asks me what I want to drink, and before I can say anything she decides for me, and says A&W ... or... So I tell her that's what I want, what's interesting is I am being conditioned before I even have time to think. It's A&W and what they are known for is their root beer. She pours the root beer and hands it to me. As I am drinking it, I start thinking about all the sugar and sodium benzoate in it, an ingredient known to cause cancer. I sit down and keep sipping the drink. As I am sitting there I start looking around at all of the people. They are all over weight, save one Asian guy.
