Purposeful Forgetting
There are thoughts that often bother me. These are things that cannot be resolved. One method of coping with such thoughts is a process that I call active forgetting. If there is nothing which can be done about it, then why not simply catch yourself when you are thinking such things and actively work to suppress and forget such memories. This I guess is the reverse of psychoanalysis, and I can't truly say that it works permanently -- but at least in the short term it is an effective coping mechanism. Read on...
All we leave behind
Rick Roderick died years ago. I heard one of Rick's lectures probably a year after he died. At the time I did not know who he was or that he had died, but I did find his delivery style and anecdotes quite interesting. Later I found out he had passed away in 2002. It's been 8 years since he left, and yet his lectures live on even today. The Teaching Company pulled his lectures years ago, but apparently someone decided to post them online anyhow.
